December has been cold!! We even had a white christmas. We had a great time playing in the snow. It was beautiful to look out our windows and see everything WHITE. Matt was like a little kid wanting to go play and not having anyone to play with. He was so disappointed he hadn’t bought a “sledge”/sled he made one himself. It was cute to see him bundle Adelynn all up so she would go play outside with him. She loved it too, she would come back in with a snow ball telling me all about how cold it was and the snow. We took her sledding with one of her little girlfriends and they were so cute riding around on an antique sled that her mom used when she was a little girl.
We’ve been to several Christmas parties with friend here. Matt had a Christmas party with his cycling club and was able to meet a few more people. Our good friends that we went to Croatia with had us over for a little party and we had a few Christmas playdate parties. It has been quite festive and fun. Christmas eve we spend with our supervisors and another young couple in the city and had a great time. Adelynn loves being at their house and playing with their daughter and their dog. It is kind of like a substitute for grandparents for her. It’s great to have that.
Christmas day was spend in our pj’s reading the Christmas story and trying to reenact it for Adelynn with her little people nativity scene. She had a great time opening her present so much so that we didn’t even give her everything because the first gift was all she was interested in. Oh well she didn’t need all those toys anyway!! Abygail was quite oblivious to the whole ordeal but she did cooperate and let us enjoy the morning. That evening we were invited to a friends house for dinner. It was a ton of fun. There were 3 other kiddos there and they all just ran around screaming playing and climbing up and down the stairs. We were really grateful to be included in the day with them and get to meet some new people.
We have missed our family a lot over the holidays wishing grandparents could play with the girls and we could play games and watch movies with the family but it has been a good year for our growing little family. We are so thankful for the gift of Christ and the sacrifice He made leaving His home in Heaven to come be born in a stable just for us. The sacrifice of not being with family seems trivial compared to that. Praising Jesus for the Joy He brought to the world and the light of life for all men He gives.
