Our social worker from Small World Adoption . The agency we are using, flew over to see us last week. Thankfully there was another family he was coming to do a post adoption visit with so we were able to split the travel cost with them. That was really helpful. We spend the week cleaning and organizing the house. Honestly, I wasn't that nervous about him coming. More excited about moving ahead. I just kept thinking if there was something significantly wrong we would know by now. Also because we were referred to this agency by some of our friends in South Asia they were able to give us the heads up as to what we should expect. Everyone said the guy coming to talk to us was really easy going and easy to talk to. That calmed a lot of my fears.
Matt picked him up at the airport early Thursday morning and he was planning to come to us in the afternoon then stay for dinner. When he got there he prayed for us and for our time together and then told us to not be worried but relax. He said that in the 20+ years of doing home studies that if a family has gotten to the point of a home visit with out any red flags then there was very little reason to deny them. PHEW! We had a good two days of just sharing our hearts and learning more about adoption and adoption from China. It was an encouraging and informative time. He reminded us that he mainly wanted to gather information about us so he could write up our home study. I was relieved and grateful for our time with him.
The only discouraging bit was that our social worker has several other home studies to write up so he anticipates it taking awhile to get ours done. We are still trying to get all our paper work to China by the end of February. Please pray with us that this will happen. Pray he is able to get through the studies quicker than usual and able to get ours finished sooner than anticipated!!
Thank you all for your prayers and support in this journey with us!! We need it and it is an encouragement to our spirits!
