Easter Day. Victory, New Life, Freedom, Hope, Joy, and Security. Words that come to my mind when I reflect on what today means for me as a follow of Jesus. He has won the victory over death, He exclaimed that He is more powerful once again than the thing that people often fear the most...death. He shows that we can have NEW LIFE and new beginning from the trap that we often fall into. He gives us freedom from any bondage we may feel we have. Hope that this is not the end, that the God we follow is Alive and Active. Joy in knowing we serve a RISEN Savior who loves us and gave Himself up for us. Security that we can rest in the knowledge that He has conquered even DEATH.
Friday night we got together to have a little time of reflection on what Christ death and Resurrection meant to us. We shared verses that helped us reflect on what His sacrifice and victory means to each of us personally. This is my verse(es) 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him
but what I really liked was the verses prior and the appeal it makes to me?
17-20 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creature; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their sins against them, and He has committed us to the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Reconcile:
to bring into agreement or harmony; make compatible or consistent; to cause a person to accept something not desired before; to win over to friendliness
He has made me new; given me a new hope and future, all the old failures have gone. Even when I was in sin, He did not count my sins against me but made me compatible, caused me to accept something I didn't desire, and won me over to a relationship/friendliness with Him. Not just me but committed me to be His ambassador and share this amazing message of mercy and Reconciliation!!
Anyway, we celebrated today with my two sick girls and good friends coming with us to church and lunch at our house. Thankful for good friends I can be real with and live my life without having to put on a "show"!
Last Sunday however; we ahd a really great Family Easter day at our church. There were loads of crafts and games for the kids, yummy cakes to eat, a baby chick hunt and story time. It was really great and the kids enjoyed it. Matt made a resurrection garden with the kids and it turned our really nice. Lots of families from our Mom's and Tot's group (Little Pips) and the nursery came to the festivities. Here are a few pictures:
