Holiday to the forest and countryside

Two weeks ago we went away with our good friends The Begleys and Azimis.  I had been looking forward to getting away for awhile in the quiet and from the hustle and bustle of routine. A change of scenery and pace.  We found a 6 bedroom cottage in the woods at the south side of the Peak District and for a good price.  It was so great! The kids all got on really well and we had lots of adventures.
The parents all had good fun playing with the kids, relaxing, cooking together and laughing.  It was a really nice time.

One day we went to Chatsworth House's adventure playground and farm.  It was gorgeous there and the play ground was wonderful. It was a really sunny warm day and we had a brilliant time! The kids held Guinea Pigs (they all still remember their names too), played in the sand and climbed up towers.

The ladies took a morning and went shopping in Bakewell.  Lovely little village with lots of neat shops and cafes.

On one of the rainy days we went to an indoor swimming park.  It was so fun.  There were lots of slides and things to climb on and play in the water with.  We all were exhausted when we left.

We went on walks to a cave.  Adelynn cracked me up because the cave was called "thor's cave. As we got to the sign it had a bear on it and I started reading about "thor's cave" to her and she got scared saying she didn't like the word "thor".  To be fair I did say it in a scary voice.  SHe is such a brave little girl though.

Going on holiday with family friends is so fun.  The kids have company to keep them occupied the parents have extra hands to help with the kids.  There is more conversations and laughs.  It brought back memories for me of going with my family and friends to the lake and to Destin with the Riches, Turners, and Hagans.  I love those memories!! So glad we can do that with our friends and family!

It was difficult as there was no internet (i know I sound like a spoiled city girl).  But I just kept checking for updates about possible referral for our second son.  I definitely needed to get away from the whole adoption process for a few days, but there was this fear that I might miss an important email or not see our son on one of the advocacy groups.  No second match yet though.  Still praying and waiting! Trusting that it's in God's hand and trying to have faith (the assurance of things hoped for) that it will happen.
watching the pheasant that became the
kid's pet for the week (or should I say
Matt's pet as he kept feeding it)
Matt wasn't too happy about this move Finny pulled!
