Hi everyone, thought i'd give you a quick update on what is happening with our adoption. We really need people to be praying over this with us. It has been a difficult few weeks to be honest. Currently we are still waiting for our infamous "Letter of Approval" (LOA) for Elijah. We've been waiting 70 days!!!! :( The average wait is 60 but many people have gotten them much faster. Some unfortunately are currently waiting around 90 days. So to say that this has been easy is an understatement. If it takes much longer to get our LOA then we will not be able to travel in August which will make logistics a bit more challenging with Adelynn starting school. My only resolve is that we really need to submit a "Letter of Intent" for a second son before our LOA for Elijah to help speed along the second ones LOA. Then if we get LOA for Elijah before we submit LOI for #2 it will really just take longer to get our LOA for #2. Confusing huh??? My head spins with all the crazy info so I understand.
So what is going on with finding our second son. Well....praise the Lord we believe we have found one. I have been looking and advocating for us to bring home two like crazy. Making me a bit crazy to be honest. It has been stressful to say the least. But we found another little guy who is precious, he was on a designated list for another agency. I contacted that agency to find out some more information about him. They sent me his file and we found out he is in the same province that Elijah is at. We have been praying that our second son would either be from the same province or in Elijah's orphanage. He turns 2 in August. The amazing thing was they were willing to transfer his file to our agency. This was a huge blessing. We had his file reviewed by the amazing Kristen Nelson, my dad, and another International Adoption Specialist and felt that we could move forward with getting his file transfer. It took 10 days to get his file to our agency because China's adoption center shut down for a week to install a new computer system. Lovely huh??? The file came through on Wednesday, and we were hoping to submit our "letter of intent" (LOI) then. However, when our agency gets his file they got some new information on him that was in Chinese. So they felt we should see it and get this information reviewed by a doctor too. Well our director said it would take a few days to get the information translated. WHY??? It's literally about 10 sentences! Seriously how long does that take?? UGH!!! Also if we don't submit our "LOI" before Sunday it will be the end of next week because China has a holiday for 3 days next week. DOUBLE UGH!!! I really love our agency and appreciate them but of course they don't have the same urgency that me as a mom have.
So I'm trying not to question whether he is our son or not and just trust that God brought him to us for a reason! Feeling really weary and frustrated with everything. This whole process has been a challenge. Waiting itself is difficult enough but waiting and trying to find another son and get everything to fall into place logistically has been a nightmare. I know that God has this all under control. He knows exactly when we will bring Elijah home. He has this other little guy in His hands and is fighting for him. He loves Elijah and this other little guy.
1. Please pray that we can get the file translated, reviewed by our doctors, and our LOI submitted (if everything continues to be as we expect) before Sunday!!
2. Pray that once our LOI is submitted that we get a really QUICK LOA for both!!!!
3. Please pray that by some miracle that we could still travel late August or really early September so that it won't be as difficult logistically with Adelynn starting school
4. Pray that if we do have to travel in September that it will be easy to work out the logistics of who will go to China & who will stay with the girls here in London,
5. Pray that we will have clear direction and peace about if we should bring home this little guy. SO far we have had complete peace and are trusting he is right for our family!!! We love him already and it will be really difficult if we can't bring him home.
6. Pray also for our matching grant that is due on June 13. Pray that all the fund ($3500) will be there or postmarked by June 13.
Thank you for walking on this journey with us!!
