Holidays from London

Over the monthly of August people here take there holidays.  Children are our of school and it’s time to escape the city to somewhere fun.  We had the opportunity to go on two trips this year.  One was to Cornwall, an area in South West England on the coast.  We went with some other Americans who live here as well.  It was absolutely beautiful to see the coast.  We visited Penzance, St. Ives, and Lands End.  Our search for good fresh fish was satisfied in St. Ives along with getting to play in the sand and put our feet in the freezing cold water.   Lands End wasn’t quite as interesting, but neat to see the cliffs and the furthest point in England plus the ride through the country side from Penzance was great.  We ate some yummy Cornish pasties and ice cream and of course scones and Cornish Clotted Cream.  Fun times.

We also were invited to go to Croatia with 3 other families we’ve been getting to know.  It was so wonderful.  We relaxed in the sun and swam in the sea.  Ate wonderful meals and enjoyed late nights laughing and having adult conversations after the kids went to bed.  Croatia is breathtaking.  The mountains surrounding the sea and crystal clear water.  It’s full of history as well.  Our friend has been going to his families home there for years and has all the connections with friends in the area.  We were able to take a boat ride to another island and eat lamb.  We are so thankful for these new friends and how welcomed they made us feel.  Wonderful hosts they were and such fun to be around.  We are truly blessed.

Day Trip to Rochester

We woke up on Saturday and decided it was adventure day before things get too busy over the rest of July.  After consulting our handy guide books and membership to English Heritage Sites map, it was decided...Rochester.  Home of the 2nd oldest Cathedral in England and Rochester Castle completed in 1127.  Getting out of London wasn’t too fun after the GPS decided to take us through the MIDDLE of town, on a Saturday mind you.  It was a little crazy.  Unfortunately there was no other way to go once we started.  We did get too see were all the tourist like to go and some more sketchy parts of the city.  Rochester is really nice.  It’s a smaller town with somewhat of a village feel.  The country side was really pretty and so were the properties along the way.  The view from the castle was amazing.  We had a great day and are so thankful we can just take a day trip like that.  Adelynn was great slept the whole way there and the whole way back.  Fun Fun!

BEEF BEEF and More BEEF

June 15-July 4
We enjoyed getting to eat some yummy hamburgers, swarma, beef tacos and fajitas...ohh the beef. the funny thing was after a few days of being in Thailand i started itching like a crazy women. At first i thought oh it's probalby this new soap we're using, so i stopped, then i thought well maybe it's the new lotion...stopped that. the itching only got worse. i figured it had to be bed bugs but matt wasn't itching at all. The only different thing that was happening now was the beef. i decided i might as well stop that too and see if the itching stopped. Guess what...it did. now whether it was really the beef or some thing else or all in my head who knows, but i did stop itching. i was so dissappointed. but grateful not to be itching anymore :)
When we went back to Bangkok in August for the check up with the baby I decided I'd try one more time with the beef. Thank goodness no more ITCHING...so back to BEEF...BEEF... AND MORE BEEF. YEA!!!
